HAZET universal spreader
The suspension of motor vehicles is exposed to strong environmental influences every day, so it is imperative that a spreader is used during dismantling to prevent damage to the stub axle. To facilitate this work step, the HAZET universal spreader is a handy aid for spreading suspension strut and suspension joint mounts to separate the suspension strut from the wheel bearing housing.
HAZET, the Remscheid-based manufacturer of quality tools and workshop equipment, has recently improved its tried-and-tested universal spreader even further.
The small but compact and robust special tool with HAZET no. 4912-5N is suitable for universal use. Disassembly is child's play with a large spreading range of 5 to 11.5 mm with the help of a 6.3 mm = ¼" ratchet with square drive (e.g. HAZET HiPer 863HP).
Since working on the stub axle can sometimes be tight and cluttered, a rear viewing window with optimised end stops in the compact special tool, which is only 60 mm short, ensures that the spreading area is always in view. To prevent the spreader from slipping out of the gap due to the forces acting on it, a 17 mm open-ended spanner can be used to hold it against the recess in the spreader that is designed for this purpose. Thanks to its robust design and the quarter inch drive, the spreader is resistant to overload – and should be present in every professional workshop.
The most significant improvement, however, can only be seen on closer inspection: the spreader is now equipped with an inlet chamfer with rounded edges for easier insertion into the receiving area that is to be expanded.
HAZET tip: it is essential that the user adheres to the manufacturer's specifications with regard to the prescribed spreading range, otherwise the stub axle could be damaged!
