Carpenters Max Zultner and Christian Pleiß - HAZET industry story

Max Zultner is a carpenter and civil engineer, the creative mind behind Zimmerei Zultner from Hückeswagen in North Rhine-Westphalia. Together with his team, he combines traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology to realise sustainable and energy-efficient construction projects. The company attaches great importance to the continuous training of its employees and to the highest quality in the design of its work.

Christian Pleiß is an important part of the team. The current production manager was personally trained as a carpenter by Max. in 2023, he was taken on permanently by the company as the best apprentice of the Bergisches Land district craftsmen's association. He is able to turn his passion for the trade and wood as a building material into innovation every day at Zultner.

Working as a carpenter

Carpenters like Max and his team work on a variety of projects, from classic roof trusses to modern timber frame constructions. Their expertise includes timber frame construction, energy-efficient refurbishments and listed buildings. Sustainable construction methods and the highest quality are their top priorities.

Her passion: processing wood in such a way that it is ecologically sound and aesthetically pleasing. Because: sustainability is not a fashion, but a mission.

Every construction is a statement for sustainability.

On the way to the top

At Zimmerei Zultner, tradition meets innovation. Not just when it comes to tools. The sustainable solutions of tomorrow are not possible without the professionals of today.

Christian lends a hand

Highest precision is required in timber frame construction. The tools used must be able to cope with changing requirements and must not fail even at lofty heights.

Quality is teamwork

At Zultner, carpenters, joiners, draughtsmen and engineers all pull together. People who understand their trade and are always open to new challenges.

The sound has to be right

If you work hard, you should also relax from time to time.

Our carpenter spills the beans: An interview with Max

What does a carpenter do at Zultner Holzbau and what are the benefits of being a carpenter? Max talks about his day-to-day work and explains.

Our company combines tradition and innovation. We offer new builds, conversions, extensions and additions - from planning to realisation. We specialise in timber frame construction for energy-efficient living. We also undertake restorations and monument protection, improve thermal insulation through energy-efficient renovations and realise classic carpentry work such as roof trusses, carports and dormers.

I've always wanted to work with my hands and see what I've created at the end of the day. As a carpenter, I have a wide range of tasks, from traditional half-timbered houses to modern timber frame buildings. It is particularly important to me that wood is a sustainable building material and that we build in an environmentally friendly way. The profession requires precision, creativity and trade skills, and with the increasing demand for ecological construction methods, the future prospects are excellent. I'm also fascinated by the combination of tradition and innovation - that's what makes the job so exciting!

The day begins with the morning meeting, where we clarify the tasks and responsibilities. This is followed by work preparation: reading construction plans, cutting materials to size and preparing tools. Then things really get going on the construction site - depending on the project, we erect timber frames, roof trusses or latticework.

This is followed by installation and assembly, such as the installation of prefabricated components or insulation work. At the end of the day, we carry out quality control and final work before cleaning up the construction site.

A carpenter needs trade skills, physical fitness and technical understanding in order to work precisely with wood and building plans.the ability to work in a team is important, as you will be working closely with colleagues and other trades. Mathematical knowledge is also required for dimensions and calculations. An interest in sustainable construction and a willingness to learn about new technologies round off the profile.

There is also a growing focus on sustainability and energy efficiency in timber construction. In addition, serial and modular construction is gaining in importance. This type of construction method enables time-efficient and cost-saving buildings, which is becoming increasingly relevant in residential construction in particular. Last but not least, digitalisation is playing an increasingly important castor for us.

For me, quality and reliability are what count when it comes to tools, especially on the construction site.hAZET has a very good reputation and offers solid tools that can withstand wind and weather - exactly what we need.

I find it exciting that HAZET is also taking off in the woodworking sector. We are happy to contribute our experience here. I also appreciate the regionality - we support companies that are just as connected to their customers as we are.
