Just the right torque – torque wrenches set to the exact specification are particularly important in the motor vehicle crafts and trades. A bolt that is not tightened sufficiently can come loose and cause serious damage or even accidents. A bolt that is overtightened can break or cause irreparable damage to the thread.

The correct torque can be preset on the torque wrench using torque tables – but does the torque wrench actually deliver the torque displayed? The new HAZET torque testers 7901E, 7902E and 7903E provide a reliable means of checking torque wrenches.

Whilst the 7901E can measure 1/2″ Inside square can verify torques between 10 and 350 newton-metres from torque wrenches for typical wheel nuts, the 7902E, with a 27 mm hexagon location notch, measures torques from 50 to 1100 Nm. The measurement tolerance is a maximum of +/-1 per cent. The 7903E, with a 10 mm hexagon-shaped location notch, is especially designed for smaller torque wrenches. This device comes with additional adaptors featuring 1/4″ and 3/8″ inside square drives and can measure torques from 1.5 to 30 Nm with a maximum tolerance of ±1 per cent. Measurements as low as 1 Nm are even possible.

The torque testers from the Remscheid-based specialist in torque technology feature robust aluminium housings for daily use in the workshop and are supplied in a sturdy plastic case. They comply with protection rating IP40. The display is also spray-water-proof.

The measured values are easy to read on the large LCD display. The values are colour-coded using a traffic-light system to show at a glance whether the measured values are still within the tolerance range of the preset torque values. In addition, the tester emits an Audible signal to alert the user to any deviations from the set values. A quick-test function allows for an immediate check of the torque setting. The devices are also compatible with the HAZET torque testing software 7901E-D.
