Clean and sustainable – repairs to the exhaust system often result in unwanted damage to the screw connections and threads of the various exhaust sensors. HAZET, the Remscheid-based manufacturer of high-quality hand tools and workshop equipment, has now developed special exhaust sensor sockets for removing and installing lambda probes, particulate sensors, NOx sensors and exhaust temperature sensors.

The exhaust probe sockets are now available in five different designs to suit all common probe diameters from 14 to 24 mm. The sockets feature a half-inch double square drive as well as an additional hexagon drive, which can also be used to prevent the slot from widening when using an open-end wrench.

The exhaust sensor sockets are also suitable for screwing the sensors back in with the correct torque after repair.

As a practical addition for working in hard-to-reach or awkwardly angled areas, HAZET offers a special operating tool (HAZET No. 4560), with a spanner size of 17 mm, for exhaust gas temperature sensors.

For the removal of lambda probes, the tried-and-tested lambda probe sockets (HAZET Nos. 4680-1 to 4680-3) are also available in various lengths and with a half-inch hexagon drive.

Once the sensors/probes have been removed, new special taps developed by HAZET complete the range. HAZET recommends using these taps not only for repairing damaged threads, but also for cleaning threads that are usually sooted or corroded.

The new taps are characterised in particular by their special TiAIN coating, made of titanium-aluminium nitride. This coating, which is heat-resistant up to 800°, makes them particularly robust and thus also allows them to be used on, e.g. stainless steel exhaust systems. This also means there is no need to wait for the exhaust system to cool down, which in turn saves time.

All taps are fitted with a guide bolt, which virtually eliminates the risk of the tap jamming in the thread being re-cut. This allows sooty, corroded or damaged threads to be re-cut precisely or cleared of residue. The cleaning groove between the cutting surfaces ensures that no debris enters the cutting area.

As a result, replacing exhaust components is no longer necessary in most cases – ensuring a clean and sustainable repair.
