Work on the wheel bearing assembly or the drive shaft of vehicles from the Volkswagen Group can sometimes be particularly tricky. On AUDI, VW, SEAT and ŠKODA models, the wheel bearing bolt assembly is so difficult to access that the only way to reach it is by performing the removal of the drive shaft and ball joint. This often takes more than half an hour’s extra time. Thanks to the new 1⁄2″ special screwdriver sockets from HAZET, the Remscheid-based manufacturer of quality tools and workshop equipment, this is now a thing of the past: Available in two lengths – 74 and 114 mm – these sockets feature an XZN M12 external multi-tooth profile and are ideal for work on the four-link suspension and McPherson spring struts. They are available as a set under HAZET No. 2584-12/2. Thanks to a tapered shank, they can be guided right past the drive shaft joint. The robust titanium nitride (TiN) coating ensures extremely high surface abrasion resistance and adhesion, optimised protection against corrosion and wear, and perfect fitting accuracy.
Work on the drive shaft itself is similarly tricky on AUDI, VW, SEAT and ŠKODA models. To loosen and tighten particularly deep-set or low-lying screw connections, HAZET has developed the 3⁄8″ drive shaft screwdriver socket, HAZET No. 2584LG-1a. This makes it easy to work on the screw connections of the drive shaft, plug-in shaft and flanged shaft. The fastening screws on the heat shield, which are required for the removal of the drive shaft, can also be reached effortlessly with this socket.
With its 6 mm outside hexagon profile and a length of 359 mm, it is also ideal for use in gearbox repairs. Screws can also be tightened to the correct torque in accordance with the relevant manufacturer's specifications, for example using the HAZET torque wrench 5110-3CT.
